Derek Eberle (born July 18, 1972) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He was a minor league player, playing primarily in North American leagues such as the ECHL, American Hockey League (AHL) and International Hockey League (IHL). ==Playing career== Eberle played junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Regina Pats for three seasons. He also had a brief stint with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He turned professional in 1993 with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL. He played between North American minor leagues for seven years until moving to the United Kingdom to play overseas for the Ayr Scottish Eagles. He returned to the ECHL in 2001-02 to play for the Pensacola Ice Pilots and subsequently retired. Eberle also had a brief stint as a professional roller hockey player with the New Jersey Rockin' Rollers of Roller Hockey International (RHI) in 1996. Eberle has won both a Saskatchewan Hockey Association Provincial C title and a Long Lake Hockey League title in the 2009-2010 season as well as an 2nd straight LLHL championship in 2010-2011 playing for the Drake Canucks, with whom he has won 4 consecutive LLHL Top Defenceman Awards.
